sobre: vivências
sobre:vivências is a set of zines whose objective is to give voice to the people in homeless situation at Cinelândia, a square in Rio de Janeiro. The zines exposes and reports stories of the residents, what they have experienced, highlighting the particularities of their daily lives. The zine was developed to be sold by the residents themselves, generating a short-term source of income. In addition, it opens a channel of communication between homeless people with society, resignifying their
role as social agents: they leave the condition of exclusion to become authors of their stories.
The initiative is based on the reports of residents of Cinelândia square about how corruption has impacted their lives, giving value to the voice of these individuals. This way, we developed a name that represented the tone of intimacy, empathy and, at the same time, pain and suffering. Our intention is that the interlocutors feel touched by the theme and encouraged to know more about the project. Also understanding that the main objevtive of the project is to tell stories about people in homeless situation, suvivors of a system that did not guaranteed them opportunities or basic human rights, as stated in the constitution of 1988. Sobre: vivências is translated as “about:experiences”, but in portuguese it also means survivels or survivors.
